Midway (2019) – Film Review – “All-In”
I don’t know what it is about them, but I’ve always loved war movies.
That said, I’ve never seen some of the more “classic” installments—Band of Brothers, Flags of Our Fathers, Saving Private Ryan (in full). In recent memory, though, films like Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and this one, remind me why it can be—why it is—such a revered genre.

What utter garbage…
Alright, let’s get into it.

Top 5 Reasons You’re Missing Out On A Modern Masterpiece – The Lighthouse (2019)
I was coming out of this film, yesterday, and…I couldn’t help but think: I haven’t done a Top List in a long time.
Being a piece that can be received so many different ways from one viewer to another, Maybe, I thought, this particular format would be best-suited for talking about it. Oh, and before we go much further……… Spoiler warning, I guess? I don’t know—never written a spoiler review, before, so…I’m not too sure what qualifies one as such.

Stuber (2019) – Film Review – “Instituting Martial Laughs”
I have a lot to say about this movie—and I use that term in the most endearing way I know how.
Usually, on this blog, I use “film” to describe something that truly knocked my metaphorical socks off—your Midsommar’s, your The Infiltrator’s, and so on. Otherwise, everything’s just a “movie” until proven otherwise, and this nomenclature tends to fall to the mid-summer fare that explodes into cinemas just to fill space between the more “high-art” seasons of spring and fall.
But Stuber, as Luke Stephens (bless him) on YouTube would say, did something amazing…

Stranger Things – Season 3 (2019) – “Turned Up To…Eleven” (Spoilers)
From the Cold (War) opener, to the tantalizing ending scenes that leave us wanting for next season already, I can honestly say—while not being the best season, that laurel still belongs to the first one—that this is my favorite season of the show, to date.
I will always listen to that theme, never skip the title drop at the beginning. It’s a classic, at this point—something everyone and their brother knows and can hum along to, even if they’re not avid viewers of the show.

Midsommar (2019) – Film Review – “Sommar Lovin'”
Alright, I need two things: A drink to calm my nerves, and a blunt to help hash this whole thing out………wow, pun fully intended.
Kidding. I don’t smoke…
Out of all the psychological horror flicks A24 has helped distribute to the bleary-eyed viewing public in the last few years, this has got to be my favorite among them.

Anna (2019) – Film Review – “Back In the USSR”
I can’t believe I’m saying this…This movie is actually worse than Red Sparrow, though not for the same reasons.
Let me explain.

Rocketman (2019) – Film Review – “Stand-Still (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah)”
I don’t really have a frame of reference for this film. I was never a huge Elton John fan—I like his music, sure, but I only rocked out to a bare few, chief among them: The one hinted at in the vague title of this review.
That said, I had to take a lot of this viewing at face-value…and also with a pinch of salt.

John Wick, Chapter 3: Parabellum (2019) – Film Review – “Smitten With Wick-en”
I guess it’s safe to say—and without spoiling anything—that this is not the end of John Wick (the franchise, not necessarily the character). With the upcoming The Continental TV series, in which Wick is rumored to make various appearances, the franchise is far from over.

The Intruder (2019) – Film Review – “Not Welcome Here”
Like I said to my friend whom went with me, during our post-viewing discussion, I never planned to rush out this review after I’d seen the movie. Even now—days later—I’m not totally enthusiastic about putting it out in the world. All of this is just fluff, to be honest, because I have very little to say about this movie. Upping my word count, as it were. Filling space. Bloating. Extra. One more… Sassafras. Okay, let’s get into this. For real this time.
