BREAKING: Bills release Fred Jackson
After eight seasons with the Buffalo Bills, the team today has released 34-year old, and beloved running back, Fred Jackson.
Jackson was signed by the Bills back in 2007 out of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jackson would become a staple in the Buffalo lineup in 2009 when he started eleven of 16 games that season. Jackson rushed for over 1,000 yards that season with two touchdowns and an average of 4.5 yards a carry.
Perhaps Jackson’s career year came in 2011 when he rushed for 934 yards, six touchdowns, and averaged 5.5 yards a carry and 93.4 yards per game in just 10 games that season. Jackson was also versatile in the passing game that season with 39 receptions averaging 11.3 yards per reception.
Last season with the Bills, Jackson started in nine games for the Bills, playing in 14 of 16 games, rushed for 525 yards with two touchdowns.
Today’s release of Jackson sets the Bills roster at 75 players heading into the team’s final preseason game on Thursday against the Detroit Lions.
