TTP – “Three Big Things” from a Preseason Finale

The final preseason game has come-and-gone. The Buffalo Bills appear to be ready for the regular season.

Yes, we are purposely being vague because that would ruin the upcoming three big things!

So, here you go:

  1. Wait, Josh Allen is playing?
In what could have gone in the book as the most galaxy-brained decisions in a very long time, Josh Allen found himself under center on Saturday afternoon against the Green Bay Packers in what goes in the books as one of the more meaningless games that we will see this season.Thankfully, for the Bills sake, things played out much better than anyone could expect.

Heading into Saturday’s game, Josh Allen had not taken a live game rep with the first-team offense all summer. Yes, he spent all camp with that first-team offense but we know practice reps and game reps are two totally different kind of monsters.

With that being said, the NFL was reminded on Saturday that Josh Allen just so happens to be for real.

On the first drive alone, Josh Allen ended with an absolute bomb of an exclamation point.

To set the scene, Allen had just been sacked for a 10 yard loss on the previous second down play. Heading into a third 3rd and 20 at the Green Bay 31 yard line, it really felt like the drive had stalled right before our eyes.

Allen took the snap, dropped back and proceed to launch an absolute laser across the middle to Gabriel Davis for a 31-yard touchdown.

Allen finished the day 20 for 26 passing with 194 yards and two touchdowns. He also recorded one rush for four yards.

There remains little doubt that Josh Allen and this Buffalo Bills offense will pick up where it left off last season. The NFL should remain on notice.

  2. Hey, The Defense Looks Ready Too!
While the Buffalo Bills offense was dazzling the fans at Highmark Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the Bills defense was hard at work.Buffalo rolled out their healthy starters (Levi Wallace, Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson all nursing injuries) and handled the Jordan Love-led Green Bay Packers with ease.

An impressive goal line stand on fourth down and a Micah Hyde interception in end zone were just a few of the many highlights on Saturday afternoon.

  3. An Undefeated Preseason
At the end of the day, when one team is lifting the Lombardi Trophy as confetti showers upon them, no one cares what their preseason record was.Heading into that long grind of a new NFL season, an undefeated preseason can certainly provide a lift to any team.

Both Buffalo’s offense and defense appear to be firing on all cylinders heading into Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is important.

This season, Buffalo transitions from the hunters to the hunted. They should no longer find themselves underestimated, which certainly can increase pressure on all parties involved.

Buffalo had themselves at the doorstep of a Super Bowl appearance against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills coaching staff and players alike know what it takes to get past that dominant Chiefs franchise. Only time will tell if Buffalo has done enough this season, both on-and-off the field, to take that next step.
