BLTD Pick’ Em: Week 2

big-ben

One week is in the books, and the pick’ em is off in running. After a solid week for our experts, Lou took an early two game lead, picking an impressive 13 out of 15 correct. Here are the standings going into week two.

  • T-1st place: Lou DiBiase (13-2)
  • T-1st place: Frank Arcury (11-4)
  • 3rd place: Ryan Wolfe (10-5)
  • T-4th place: Joe DiBiase (9-6)
  • T-4th place: Brayton Wilson (9-6)

Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) at. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) 1pm EST

Both front runners for the AFC North this season started off with good wins in their first games. The Bengals won a tough, close game at the Jets, and the Steelers picked apart a decent team on the road at Washington. This game comes early, but it will likely prove important as the season progresses. The Bengals pass game was very good against the Jets, so expect them to find success against a weak Pittsburgh secondary. As for the Steelers, their offense looked unstoppable last Monday night. This could be a very high scoring affair.

PICKING CINCINNATI: Ryan, Frank

PICKING PITTSBURGH: Joe, Brayton

Tennessee Titans (0-1) at. Detroit Lions (1-0) 1pm EST

This looks like a very uninteresting game between two teams that aren’t expected to do much of anything this season. The Lions delayed that thought with a win over the Colts. They have an opportunity to jump out to a 2-0 start and stay in the NFC North conversation for now. The Titans should take a page from the Colts, and let loose on the Lions defense. Mike Mularkey won’t do that, because he loooves to run the ball, but the smart decision is to throw the ball a lot against Detroit.

PICKING TENNESSEE: Frank

PICKING DETROIT: Joe, Brayton, Ryan

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) at Cleveland Browns (0-1) 1pm EST

I just cannot see ever picking Cleveland this season. The Browns looked bad, against an Eagles team that was supposed to be bad. They lost RG3, but I think Josh McCown might be a little better anyway for that team. The Ravens on the other hand looked very good defensively against Buffalo. If they can figure out how to do anything on offense, they should win this game.

PICKING BALTIMORE: Joe, Brayton, Ryan, Frank

PICKING CLEVELAND: No one

Dallas Cowboys (0-1) at Washington Redskins (0-1) 1pm EST

Both teams need a win to get back on track, in a division where anyone can win it. The Eagles and Giants both won their first games, so the Cowboys and Redskins are not going to want to give either of them the opportunity to go up two games. Dak Prescott looked okay in his first matchup against the Giants, but let’s see how he does in his first NFL road game.

PICKING DALLAS: Frank

PICKING WASHINGTON: Joe, Brayton, Ryan

New Orleans Saints (0-1) at New York Giants (1-0) 1pm EST

Get ready for offense. The over under on points scored in this game is 54, the most of any game this week. The Giants have a potentially elite offense, and we know Drew Brees will get the Saints to that status as well. Both defenses are bad, however the Giants showed pretty well against the Cowboys last week, so maybe they’re not so bad. In any event this will be a track meet.

PICKING NEW ORLEANS: Frank

PICKING NEW YORK: Joe, Brayton, Ryan

San Francisco 49ers (1-0) at Carolina Panthers (0-1) 1pm EST

This will be the final game that the 49ers have a better record than the Panthers. The 9ers looked great in their opener. They went on long drives, and shut out the opposing team. Except the opposing team was the awful L.A. Rams. The Panthers are a complete 180. Expect the Panthers to win big, especially at home.

PICKING SAN FRANCISCO: No one

PICKING CAROLINA: Joe, Ryan, Brayton, Frank, Lou

Miami Dolphins (0-1) at New England Patriots (1-0) 1pm EST

Miami at Foxboro is usually an easy call, and this week is no different, despite the absence of Tom Brady. The Pats looked like their usual self, beating a Super Bowl contender in the Cardinals on the road. Jimmy Garoppolo looked above average in his first NFL start, and no one should expect a major drop off in the Patriots play. The Dolphins looked strong at Seattle, but with Arian Foster already banged up, they don’t have the offense to compete.

PICKING MIAMI:

PICKING NEW ENGLAND: Joe, Brayton, Ryan, Frank

Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) at Houston Texans (1-0) 1pm EST

Both the Chiefs and Texans are on that same level of, could be contenders in the AFC, but we’re not counting on it. The Chiefs stormed back to defeat the San Diego Chargers. The Texans controlled the Bears for the entire game. It was a different looking game for each, but both were the results we expected. This game is hard to judge. It’ll be a lot of running the ball, and since the Chiefs are missing both starting guards and Spencer Ware is banged up with a sprained toe, this could go to Houston’s advantage. These are the games where you win or lose pick’ em.

PICKING KANSAS CITY: Ryan, Frank

PICKING HOUSTON: Joe, Brayton

Seattle Seahawks (1-0) at Los Angeles Rams (0-1) 4:05 EST

I smell a blowout. Even with Russell Wilson’s ankle injury, the Rams showed nothing last week against a 49ers team that would probably themselves get blown out by Seattle. It’ll be a poor showing for the Rams in their first game back in Los Angeles.

PICKING SEATTLE: Joe, Ryan, Brayton, Frank, Lou

PICKING LA: No one

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) at Arizona Cardinals (0-1) 4:05 EST

The Cardinals came up just short at home against New England. Now the pressure is on Arizona not to drop back to back home games to start the year. It’ll be a tough task, as Jameis Winston and the Bucs looked very good in their opener. Doug Martin however, wasn’t very productive, and if they’re going to win in Arizona, he’ll need to be on the top of his game.

PICKING TAMPA BAY:

PICKING ARIZONA: Joe, Brayton, Ryan, Frank

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) at San Diego Chargers (0-1) 4:25 EST

PICKING JACKSONVILLE: Joe, Brayton, Ryan, Frank

PICKING SAN DIEGO:

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) at Oakland Raiders (1-0) 4:25 EST

PICKING INDY: Brayton

PICKING DENVER: Joe, Ryan, Frank

Green Bay Packers (1-0) at Minnesota Vikings (1-0) 8:30 EST

PICKING GREEN BAY: Joe, Brayton, Ryan, Frank

Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) at Chicago Bears (0-1) Monday Night

PICKING PHILLY: Brayton, Ryan, Frank
